I personally know Stephen Kress (one of the Backyard Birdwatcher authors) and his books are always full of useful information. This one has become a favorite among birders of all levels. The second book, 101 Ways to Help Birds has lots of tips and practical info from what to do with abandoned baby birds to managing your backyard habitat. Either one would make a great gift for any bird-lover or an excellent resource for yourself!
